• AH-Type Radius Corner Hex Body Inserts

AH-Type Radius Corner Hex Body Inserts provide exceptional spin out resistance in punched hex holes and are recommended for use with mating thread-locking fasteners. The radius corners of these inserts expand and fill the corners of a hex hole. (These insert can help avoid stress fractures of your material and prolong punch and die life by specifying a radius corner in the hex hole.) These inserts are available with either standard Open End (as pictured), or Closed Ends for leakage protection past the threads. For complete weathertight security, we also offer a variation with a foam seal under the heading "Blind Threaded Inserts" in this section of the Encyclopedia.

  • Low Profile Knurled Threaded Inserts

The Low Profile Knurled Threaded Insert features a knurled body with a smaller diameter, reduced profile head to provide virtually flush installation without special hole preparation. Countersink drilling or dimpling of the parent material can be eliminated. During insertion, the knurled body expands 360° to fill the hole, creating exceptional torque strength and resistance to vibration. A backside flange is also formed, even in multiple thicknesses of materials without any need for adjustments. These inserts are to be used with Grade 5 or Metric 8.8/9.8 mating screws. All sizes available are listed on this page, in a representative sampling of materials, finishes and end options (Open Ends for most versatility, and Closed Ends to eliminate leakage past threads).

  • AL Type Blind Threaded Inserts

AL Type Inserts have a knurled body with a low-profile, large diameter head for maximum all-around strength and spin out resistance in drilled or punched holes. During insertion, the knurled body expands 360º to fill the hole, creating exceptional torque strength and resistance to vibration. A backside flange is formed, even in multiple thicknesses of materials without any need for adjustments. These inserts are to be used with Grade 5 or Metric 8.8/9.8 mating screws.

  • AL Type Knurled Inserts with Large Sealed Head

The Knurled Insert with Large Sealed Head combines all the features of the standard knurled inserts plus weathertight security provided by a PVC foam seal bonded to the underside of the head. These sealed inserts will withstand 50 PSI (3.4bars) of pressure and can be used in punched or drilled holes. During insertion, the knurled body expands 360º to fill the hole creating exceptional torque strength and resistance to vibration. A backside flange also forms, even in multiple thicknesses of materials without any need for adjustments.

  • AO Type Small Diameter Low Profile Blind Threaded Inserts

Small Diameter Low Profile Blind Threaded Inserts have reduced profile heads and smaller diameter bodies to provide excellent spin out resistance in smaller holes or close to edge applications. During insertion, the insert's body expands 360º to fill the hole, thus creating exceptional torque strength and vibration resistance. A backside flange is also formed, even in multiple material thicknesses, without any need for adjustments.

  • AT Type Knurled Blind Threaded Inserts for Thicker Panels

These Knurled Inserts for Thicker Panels have tiny knurls under their head, and are designed to be installed into most materials over 0.030in/0.76mm in thickness. Their reduced length makes them ideal for limited clearance applications. They can be installed using lightweight, handheld pneumatic tools that can be located at any position in your assembly sequence. As the insert is installed, the threaded nut portion is drawn into the upper sleeve portion. This 360º swaging action expands the sleeve to firmly hold the insert in position in the hole. They are to be used with Grade 8/Metric 12.9 mating screws.

  • Bulge Control Technology (BCT®) Rivet Nuts

BCT® Rivet Nuts by BBA Fastening Systems offer Bulge Control Technology (BCT®), a patented solution to control where the bulge forms when these rivet nuts are installed. This innovative technology creates the first rivet nut with optimal fitting for irregular and oversized holes.

BCT® Rivet Nuts are significantly stronger than standard ones. They provide safe, secure riveting in carbon fiber and composite material structures.

  • Closed End Insert Nuts

  • Rivet Nuts

Ideally Suited For Tubing, Extrusion, & Other Similar Types Of Single Sided Applications.

    FEATURES & BENEFITS

    • Do not need welding to the base material. Expensive environmental and welding equipment not necessary.
    • Can be placed “blind” — no access to back of material required.
    • Prepainted material can be used. Will not damage paint in the installation process.
    • Installed quickly and accurately with inexpensive, easy-to-use tooling. Hand tools, spin-spin and spin-pull tools.
    • Can be removed without damaging base material.
    • Available up to 3/4-10 and M16.
    • Variety of head styles—flat, thin, and countersunk.
    • Variety of body types—round (smooth and knurled), half hex and full hex.
    • Variety of materials—steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and brass.

    RIVET NUTS CAN REPLACE:

    • Nuts & Bolts — requires access to both sides of the material. Nuts can be lost and create
      longer assembly time.
    • Clinch Nuts — requires access to the backside of the material and an expensive press
must be used when installing into sheet metal.
    • Weld Nuts — Requires expensive welding equipment and can cause material weakness
by burning the base material. Cannot be added to finished parts.
    • Rivets— Permanent fastening method; not allowing for removal of components.
    • Thread Tapping/Cutting Screws — weaker thread strength than rivet nuts.
    • Heated Drill & Tap — weaker; same disadvantages as weld nuts.

  • Riv-Float™ Blind Threaded Insert Nuts

Patent Pending Riv-Float™ BLIND THREADED INSERT NUTS have floating internal threads which allow for component attachments in off-center applications. The radial float of 0.020" allows the nut to drive the angle of the screw, eliminating cross-threading and spin-out. The kits and bags featured here contain sample sizes of Large Flanged Nuts and tools for a variety of applications. Small Flange versions and individual parts are available directly from EFC-International.

  • RN Type Heavy Duty Rivet Nut Inserts

These inserts can be installed before or after finish, with pneumatic/hydraulic tools or special rivet tools available directly through EFC International.

  • Slotted Body Inserts

The Slotted Body Insert has been designed for use in plastics and thin gauge sheet metal applications where increased pull-out resistance is required. The round body has four slotted segments that fold outward from the hole center as the insert is installed, to grip the host material from the backside. They can be used in single, variable or multiple thicknesses of materials with no adjustments, when installed with proper hand or pneumatic torque tools. These inserts are standard with a round head, or order a square head to be used in embossed or molded square-shaped recesses for maximum spin out resistance.

  • S-Type Captive Threaded Stud Inserts

S-Type Captive Threaded Stud Inserts function like the Knurled Blind Threaded Inserts, but leave a threaded stud protruding from the panel after installation. Components can then be attached and secured by a mating nut. These studs can be used in place of clinch or weld studs, before or after finish. Optional head designs include a weathertight PVC foam sealed head, or a wedged head for more torque capabilities. As these are installed, the knurled body expands 360º to fill the hole, creating exceptional torque strength and resistance to vibration. A backside flange is also formed, even in multiple thicknesses of materials without any need for adjustments.
