Metal Dart Clips provide a low cost replacement for screws and rivets as they require only a cavity or mounting hole. Dart Clips may be applied from the front or top of a panel and may serve as a solution for blind or limited-access fastening. The spring tension secures the components between the base and knuckles of the clip which can make them ideal for assembling gaskets, name plates, and lightweight panels and components.

Dart Clips are pushed into the hole, compressing the hollow prong. The prong then returns to its original shape once it passes through the hole. The amount of clamping action depends on the design of the clip and material thickness for the application. In addition, the surface condition of the hole edge has a definite bearing on the ease with which a metal Dart Clip can be inserted and how well it will fit and hold.
